Ernesto Rodrigues and Guilherme Rodrigues travelled to Glasgow to play a concert with Aileen Campbell and Neil Davidson at the Streetlevel Photoworks Gallery in Glasgow in June 2007. A recording with the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra was also arranged which took place the following day.
The music on this CD comprises three free improvisations and a discretely structured piece by Raymond MacDonald - distributed talk - which came from the instruction to play three relatively short improvisations with short silences between.

The Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, one of Scotland’s foremost contemporary music ensembles and a leading light in European experimental music, releases its 5th CD, GIOpoetics. The Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra (GIO) is an ensemble of 25 musicians from diverse musical backgrounds that include jazz, contemporary classical, traditional, and avant/experimental pop. Improvisation can take many forms and GIO is committed to drawing on a broad range of approaches, including the use of pre-determined structures, conventional scores, graphic scores, 'conduction', film and visual media as stimulus. The orchestra’s previous work includes a host of international collaborations with world leading improvisers and 4 critically acclaimed CDs; Munich and Glasgow (2004), Which Way Did He Go (2005), Witch Gong Game (2007) all on FMR records and Separately and Together (2008) on Emanem records.
This release features an expanded string section including Portugal’s Ernesto Rodrigues on viola and Guilherme Rodrigues on cello. With three free improvisations and a discretely structured piece by Raymond MacDonald - distributed talk - which came from the instruction to play three relatively short improvisations with short silences between this CD demonstrates GIOs distinctive commitment to free improvisation in large ensemble contexts. Intricate and detailed pieces that are celebratory, passionate, reflective and questioning.
