Called “a thoughtfully avant-garde drummer and composer” (Nate Chinen, New York Times) Andrew Drury performs and photographs drum solos in desert and other outdoor settings, has led over 700 junk percussion workshops in the U.S., Guatemala, and Nicaragua, has toured homeless shelters in Indiana, and led several residencies on Indian reservations. He is a former student of Ed Blackwell, Alan Dawson, and Annie Dillard who improvises most frequently with Jack Wright, Nate Wooley, Jane Rigler, Reuben Radding, Matt Bauder, Jessica Lurie. He has also performed with Ricardo Arias, Taylor Ho Bynum, Audrey Chen, Sebastien Cirotteau, Amy Denio, Tom Djll, Michel Doneda, Bryan Eubanks, Ferran Fages, Chris Hoffman, Paul Hoskin, Jason Kao Hwang, Briggan Krauss, Andrew Lafkas, Adam Lane, Peggy Lee, Myra Melford, Sei Miguel, Alfredo Costa Monteiro, Manuel Mota, Gregory Reynolds, Ernesto & Guilherme Rodrigues, Jessica Pavone, Wally Shoup, Wadada Leo Smith, Chris Speed, John Tchicai, Dylan VanderSchyff, Kenny Wolleson’s Marching Band with Butch Morris, Ben Wright, Ingar Zach, Danijel Zezelj, and others.
