Ulf Mengersen is a double bass player who is active in the fields of experimental, improvised and contemporary music. Since he finished his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar in 2007 he is based in Berlin and part of the European experimental music scene.
He improvises with large ensembles like the Berlin Improvisers Orchestra and the London Improvisers Orchestra. He plays duo with Shuichi Chino, trio with Lina Allemano and Kamil Korolczuck, duo with Thomas Rehnert, solo, and with a lot of other musicians. Mostly acoustic, sometimes amplified and with effect pedals.
As a performer of contemporary music he was part of the theatre production "Ich, Ikarus" at Theater an der Parkaue Berlin and played with ensemble unitedberlin, ensemble Ilinx and at Neuköllner O-Töne.
He has toured internationally and played concerts in Germany, Poland, the UK, Portugal, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Switzerland, Israel and China.
