Alexandre Babel

Alexandre Babel (born 1980 in Geneva) is a Swiss percussionist, composer and curator based in Berlin. His work moves between contemporary classical music, experimental music, free improvisation and performance art, with percussion treated as both an instrumental practice and a way of questioning conventional musical form.

A former principal percussionist of KNM Berlin and former artistic director of the percussion collective Eklekto, Babel is a founding member of the performance collective Radial and received the Swiss Music Prize in 2021. He remains highly active internationally in 2026, performing and composing in projects including Ensemble 0, collaborations around the music of Ryoji Ikeda and Tristan Perich, and new solo and ensemble works.
