António Chaparreiro

António Chaparreiro is a Portuguese guitarist and composer based in Lisbon. A self-taught instrumentalist with a degree in Musicology from NOVA University Lisbon, he has developed a practice in which the electric guitar functions as a generator of noise, texture and closely listened sonic detail.

His work is rooted in free improvisation and has included projects with Ernesto Rodrigues, Variable Geometry Orchestra and numerous Lisbon-based improvisers, as well as recordings under his own name.
