Benoît Cancoin

Benoît Cancoin is a French double bassist, composer and improviser. After classical studies culminating in a gold medal in double bass, he moved through contemporary music and jazz toward a practice centred on improvisation and the physical material of sound.

His work frequently crosses into dance, visual art and poetry, with the double bass treated as a field of texture, friction and resonance rather than only as a conventional bass instrument.
