Carlos Bechegas

Carlos Bechegas (born 1957 in Lisbon) is a Portuguese flutist, improviser and composer whose work has crossed jazz, electroacoustic improvisation and experimental music since the late 1970s. His practice centres on flute, piccolo and related instruments, often in open-form collaborations and live performance.

Across a long international career he has worked with musicians including Derek Bailey, Peter Kowald, Barry Guy and Alexander von Schlippenbach. In recent years he has remained particularly active in Portugal and Germany, with several Creative Sources releases documenting collaborations with Ernesto Rodrigues, Guilherme Rodrigues, João Madeira, Carlos Santos and Carlos Zíngaro.
