Christine Sehnaoui

Christine Sehnaoui, also known as Christine Abdelnour, is a French-Lebanese alto saxophonist and improviser whose work explores the instrument through extended technique, detailed articulation and the physical relationship between breath and sound. She began developing her self-directed experimental approach after discovering improvised music in 1997.

Her collaborations include Mazen Kerbaj, Sharif Sehnaoui and Stéphane Rives, and she has also worked with dancers and experimental performance artists. She contributed to the development of the Irtijal festival in Beirut, a central meeting place for experimental music in Lebanon. Creative Sources documents her playing within the international community of contemporary improvisers.
