Carlo Mascolo

Carlo Mascolo is an Italian trombonist and improviser whose musical practice draws on jazz, contemporary music, experimental electronics and the exploration of alternative instrumental timbres. His solo work uses prepared trombone, rubber and brass tubes, spatialisation and unconventional articulation.

He has performed in numerous international projects, including collaborations connected to the groups Embryo and musicians from European improvised-music scenes. His Creative Sources releases include My Tubes and the duo Losca Mio Gulfos with baritone guitarist Andreas Fulgosi. Across CS409, CS456, CS523 and CS532, his instrument becomes a source of breath, pitch, noise and finely shaped acoustic textures.
