Elo Masing

Elo Masing is an Estonian-born composer, improviser and sound artist based in Berlin whose work examines the physical dimensions of instrumental performance. She combines contemporary composition with live experimentation, movement and interdisciplinary practices.

She earned a PhD at the Royal Academy of Music in London in 2015 and has studied with Rebecca Saunders. Her compositions have been performed by internationally recognised new-music ensembles, while her free-improvisation activity includes the duo Vicious Circus with Dave Maric and participation in Reanimation Orchestra. Creative Sources has released recordings featuring her violin, including CS503, CS570 and CS589. Her work crosses the boundaries between notation and performance, acoustic gestures and spontaneous creation.
