Fredi Pröll

Fredi Pröll is an Austrian drummer and percussionist involved in freely improvised music. His work includes encounters with vocalist Mara Kolibri, with whom he has explored spontaneous musical communication between percussion, breath, song and extended vocal sounds.

Together they released Primus 17 (CS622), and Creative Sources also documents Pröll on CS710 and Adschi (CS808). His playing makes use of the drum kit's contrasting resonances, rhythmic gestures and timbral possibilities, responding to musicians without relying on a fixed arrangement. His collaborative approach emphasises close listening and musical ideas formed during performance.
