Fredrik Rasten

Fredrik Rasten is a Norwegian guitarist, composer and improviser born in 1988, active between Oslo and Berlin. His work focuses on just intonation, overtone relationships and the subtle acoustic phenomena created by closely related pitches, often using real-time guitar retuning and prepared strings.

He works in solo settings and in groups including Oker, Pip with trumpeter Torstein Lavik Larsen, Arches and Harmonic Space Orchestra. His music brings together influences from early music, folk traditions and reductionist composition, frequently emphasising extended duration and attentive listening. Creative Sources documents his guitar on CS348 and CS601.
