Luis Martins

Luís Martins is a Portuguese guitarist associated with the exploratory chamber-music trio Powertrio, performing on classical and acoustic guitar. The group's approach moves between notated ideas, improvisation and detailed interaction among three acoustically different instruments.

On What We Think When We Walk and What We Walk While Thinking (CS147), Martins plays alongside Eduardo Raon on harp and electronics and Joana Sá on piano and toy piano. The recording shows how classical guitar can move between plucked melodic fragments, resonance and a percussive vocabulary within a trio format. Their music draws on dialogue, contrasting instrumental timbres and changing relationships between composed and spontaneous material.
