Martin Mellem

Martin Mellem is a drummer whose performance is documented by Creative Sources on Bear (CS491). The album places percussion within an exploratory group setting, with an emphasis on the dynamic relationships between instrumental voices.

In freely improvised music, a drum kit may provide rhythmic direction or operate instead through small sounds, pauses and sudden changes of energy. The recording credits Mellem with drums and establishes his participation in this particular ensemble. Reliable biographical information about his other projects, musical education and current work has not yet been independently confirmed, so this note is intentionally limited to documented activity.
