Nils Henrik Asheim

Nils Henrik Asheim (born 1960 in Oslo) is a Norwegian composer, organist, pianist and curator known for a highly personal improvisational language and for placing the organ in unexpected artistic contexts. His work spans orchestral and chamber music, choir, electronics, site-specific projects and cross-disciplinary collaborations.

Since 2012 Asheim has been resident organist at Stavanger Concert Hall, where he has developed new concert formats and expanded the instrument’s audience and repertoire. He also teaches through a professor position at the University of Stavanger and remains active as a composer and performer; recent projects include the large-scale Piano Actions at Henie Onstad Kunstsenter in 2026.
