Nuno Moita
Nuno Moita is a Portuguese sound artist and experimental electronic musician working with turntables, sampling and computer-based sound. He is associated with projects including Whit, a quartet of turntablists, and Gigantiq, a collaboration with multimedia artist André Gonçalves.
His practice treats recorded material and electronic devices as instruments for improvised performance, bringing together fragments, surface noise, repetition and sound processing. He has participated in the Variable Geometry Orchestra's large-scale Lisbon improvisation projects. Creative Sources documents his use of samplers and turntables on CS100, CS358 and CS406, highlighting the place of electronic manipulation within collective acoustic and electroacoustic improvisation.
