Pascal Niggenkemper
Pascal Niggenkemper is a French-German double bassist, composer and improviser whose music connects free improvisation, sound art and experimental composition. Having studied in Cologne and New York, he developed an individual approach to prepared bass, using objects, resonance and unfamiliar acoustic relationships.
His projects include Ensemble Tuvalu, Baloni, the PNTrio and the solo work Look With Thine Ears. After periods living in New York, Paris and Rodez, his work continues through international ensembles, composition and residencies. His Creative Sources appearances document a practice in which the acoustic instrument is both a source of pitch and an open field of sound discovery.
