Paul Rogers
Paul Rogers is a British double bassist and improviser born in 1956, internationally associated with European free jazz and contemporary improvised music. A member of the quartet Mujician with Keith Tippett, Paul Dunmall and Tony Levin, he has developed a distinctive acoustic approach to the bass.
He has performed and recorded with Evan Parker, John Stevens, Elton Dean, Michel Doneda and Ramón López, among many other improvisers. His work includes solo music and the use of a specially developed seven-string double bass, extending the instrument's possibilities for simultaneous lines and resonance. Creative Sources documents him in small-group music shaped by shared listening and spontaneous composition.
