Theo Nabicht

Theo Nabicht is a German clarinetist, bass clarinetist and composer born in 1963. After studying at the Hanns Eisler music academy in Berlin, he pursued further training with Armand Angster in Strasbourg. His work combines contemporary notated music, experimental performance and free improvisation.

A particular focus of his practice is the double bass clarinet, whose low register and unusual resonance offer possibilities beyond conventional clarinet playing. He has worked with the Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin and performed in a range of solo and ensemble formations. His Creative Sources recording Tutti (CS402) documents this distinctive instrument in an improvisational context.
