Vic Rawlings
Vic Rawlings is an American improviser, composer, instrument builder and educator based in Boston. He performs on a highly modified amplified cello and an unstable electronic instrument assembled from exposed circuitry and speaker elements, exploring the relationship between physical gesture, amplification and acoustic sound.
His collaborations include Christian Wolff, Ikue Mori, Andrea Neumann, Sean Meehan and Bhob Rainey. He also works in film, theatre and dance and leads workshops introducing experimental sound to diverse communities. Creative Sources documents his contribution to electroacoustic improvisation, where detailed listening and unconventional instrumental materials create music between near-silence and intense texture.
